Dubai’s final bridge at the World Trade Centre roundabout is set to open on Friday, October 30, completing a major road project designed to improve traffic flow around one of the city’s busiest areas.
The 1km-long bridge will carry up to 3,000 vehicles an hour and is expected to cut the journey between Al Majlis Street and 2nd December Street from around six minutes to one.
The project, costing about Dh696 million, includes five bridges with a combined length of 5km. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority expects the completed development to benefit around 500,000 residents and visitors.
The average delay at the intersection is expected to fall from approximately 12 minutes to 90 seconds once the project is fully operational.
The development forms part of wider improvements to Dubai’s road network around Sheikh Zayed Road and complements the Al Mustaqbal Street project, which is scheduled for completion in 2027.
For commuters travelling through the World Trade Centre, DIFC and surrounding areas, the changes are expected to improve connections and reduce congestion.
