The UAE could experience above-average temperatures and rainfall over the coming months as a strong El Niño pattern develops, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
The NCM currently estimates a 96 per cent probability that El Niño conditions will continue from November 2026 through March 2027. The phenomenon could influence UAE weather patterns, potentially bringing both warmer temperatures and higher-than-average rainfall.
The latest climate outlook does not mean heavy rain or flooding is guaranteed. The amount and location of rainfall will depend on regional weather systems and atmospheric conditions at the time.
However, the forecast suggests residents could experience a more unusual winter season, with changing temperatures and an increased possibility of significant rainfall later in the forecast period.
The NCM said the El Niño pattern is expected to become more prominent during the coming months, with its effects potentially continuing into early 2027.
