Sharjah Police have arrested 33 people in an international operation targeting an organised criminal network accused of laundering about Dh8.8 billion ($2.4 billion) through a complex web of financial and cybercrime activity.

The investigation involved authorities in several countries and focused on a network allegedly linked to money laundering, cyber fraud and other organised criminal activity. Authorities said the operation followed extensive investigative work to identify the people and financial channels involved.

The case highlights the growing international nature of financial crime, with criminal networks increasingly using digital systems and cross-border transactions to move illicit funds.

UAE authorities have continued to strengthen cooperation with international law-enforcement agencies as part of efforts to disrupt financial crime and protect the country’s financial system.

The investigation remains subject to legal proceedings, and allegations against suspects will be determined through the judicial process.
