Dubai will now process single-entry 30-day and 60-day tourist visas within 48 working hours, a move travel industry professionals say is expected to boost visitor arrivals and strengthen the emirate’s appeal as a short-notice travel destination.
According to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), visitors can obtain a single-entry tourist visa within 48 working hours of submitting complete applications through authorised tourism offices. The service applies to both 30-day and 60-day visas, subject to submission of all required documentation.
Travel agents said the faster processing time is likely to benefit tourists, business travellers, and families planning last-minute trips, while also reducing uncertainty around travel arrangements.
Industry executives noted that the quicker turnaround could make Dubai more attractive during the summer season, when hotels and attractions offer seasonal discounts and competitive airfares are available from several regions.
Bharat Aidasani, managing partner at Pluto Travels, said the announcement had already become a key talking point among travellers and within the industry.
“Once travellers become aware that visas can be processed within 48 working hours, demand is likely to increase. The faster turnaround removes uncertainty and makes Dubai an attractive option for both leisure and business travel,” he said.
He added that Dubai’s geographic position between East and West makes it particularly important for business travellers who often require short-notice trips, noting that faster visa approvals could facilitate such travel.
Aidasani also said the summer season could further support inbound travel, citing lower hotel rates and competitive airfares as additional incentives.
Subair Thekepurathvalappil, Senior Manager at Wisefox Tourism, said the process is straightforward once correct documents are submitted, adding that many applicants may receive visas within a day, while others may take up to 48 hours depending on verification.
He advised travellers to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate to avoid delays, adding that enquiries about the new processing timeline have already increased.
Taha Siddique, owner of Siddique Travels, said the policy has generated interest among tourists, business travellers, and families, particularly those planning short-notice visits to the UAE.
Travel agents said Dubai continues to attract visitors even during the summer months due to lower accommodation costs, promotional offers, and seasonal events, with the new visa processing timeline expected to further support year-round tourism growth.
