Dubai Municipality has urged residents travelling during the summer holidays not to leave vehicles unattended in public areas for extended periods, warning that neglected cars could affect the city’s appearance and lead to fines.
The municipality advised motorists to park only in designated secure locations, avoid deserted or sandy areas, carry out regular maintenance, arrange periodic cleaning and use protective covers when leaving vehicles unused.
It said inspection teams monitor roads, public car parks and open areas throughout the year to identify abandoned vehicles. Owners are issued warnings ranging from three to 15 days, depending on the vehicle’s condition and location.
Vehicles that remain unattended after the warning period are removed in coordination with Emirates Parking and transferred to an impound yard in Al Awir.
Owners face a Dh500 fine, along with towing and storage charges based on the vehicle type, weight and duration of impoundment.
Dubai Municipality also issued summer safety advice for families using home swimming pools, urging parents to supervise children at all times, secure pool areas, maintain water quality and prevent unsafe activities such as running, diving and rough play.
