An Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has sentenced a teacher to two years in prison for physically assaulting four students at a private school, ordering his deportation from the UAE after completing his sentence. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

The incident occurred inside a classroom during a lesson, leaving the four students with injuries that affected their ability to carry out their usual personal activities for periods of up to 20 days.

The court based its conviction on the teacher’s admissions during the investigation and court proceedings. He acknowledged assaulting the students, claiming he had acted to prevent classroom disruption and maintain discipline.

However, CCTV footage supported the admissions and showed the teacher using violence against the students, with the court finding no justification for his actions.

In its ruling, the court stressed that violence against students inside a school undermines their safety and violates the law. It said enforcing legal protections was essential to safeguarding individuals’ rights, maintaining public order and deterring conduct that could put others at risk.
