Etihad Rail’s long-awaited Dubai passenger service is set to begin on September 30, opening a new public transport option for residents travelling between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.
Tickets for the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route start at Dh39 in Comfort Class, while Premium Class fares start at Dh109. The journey from Dubai’s Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates to Mohamed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi is expected to take about 64 minutes.
The new Dubai station is connected to the Dubai Metro network through a dedicated pedestrian link, while passengers can also reach it by taxi, ride-hailing services and road connections. The station has 265 parking spaces.
For Sri Lankan expatriates, the service could offer a useful alternative to driving or taking an intercity bus, particularly for residents travelling between the two major employment and population centres.
The UAE’s national passenger rail network is being introduced in phases, with further stations and routes planned over the coming months.
