Footage circulating on social media showing a man allegedly abusing a cat has sparked concern among animal rescuers and residents in the UAE.
Several posts shared on the man’s Facebook account appear to show acts of cruelty involving a grey cat. In one video, a knife is placed close to the cat’s neck as it attempts to move away, while another appears to show the man pressing his foot against the animal’s neck.
The content was highlighted by UK-based animal rescuer Remote Rescues, which said it had attempted to report the alleged abuse through Dubai Police’s cybercrime reporting channel.
The rescuer said the footage was “deeply disturbing” and called for action to protect the animal.
Dubai Municipality has been contacted for comment on the reported incident.
