A UAE-based couple and their volunteer network have assisted more than 6,000 stranded vehicles without charging drivers for the service.
Lebanese expatriate Ahmad Hiskol and his Uzbek wife Nora established BlueRex Offroad Rescue after helping more than 100 vehicles during the UAE floods of 2024. Both have full-time jobs but devote weekends and public holidays to rescue work in deserts, mountains and other difficult terrain.
“The rescue work is completely voluntary, and we never charge people for helping them,” Ahmad said.
Drivers seeking help are initially asked to provide their location and photographs or videos of the situation. Some vehicles can be freed after the team provides instructions by telephone or WhatsApp, while more difficult cases require volunteers and recovery equipment to be sent to the location.
The network also shares advice on tyre pressure, four-wheel-drive systems and preparations motorists should make before travelling off-road.
