Dubai’s flagship air taxi hub near Dubai International Airport has become the world’s first purpose-built commercial vertiport to receive regulatory certification.
The facility, known as VDX, will serve as the main hub for Dubai’s planned air taxi network and is being developed by Skyports Infrastructure in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority.
Spanning around 3,100 square metres across four storeys, the vertiport includes two take-off and landing areas, rapid charging facilities for electric aircraft and dedicated passenger infrastructure.
Three additional vertiports are also being developed across Dubai as part of the network.
Once operations begin, VDX is expected to handle up to 170,000 passengers annually, marking a major step towards the launch of commercial air taxi services in the emirate.
