Dubai Police recovered Dh10 million and arrested three suspects within 10 minutes of a robbery at a currency exchange office in Deira, authorities said.

The robbery took place in the early hours when three masked men stormed the ground-floor exchange office, assaulted and tied up employees, damaged surveillance cameras and fled with cash packed into several bags.

Police said the response was triggered after one employee freed himself and activated the Dubai Police SOS emergency service on his mobile phone, sending an immediate alert to the operations room.

Officers quickly sealed Deira’s entry and exit points, deployed patrols and shared suspect details across the force. Within 10 minutes, a traffic sergeant stopped a suspicious vehicle and arrested one suspect, recovering part of the stolen cash.

A police helicopter was then deployed and located the remaining two suspects hiding in an industrial yard after they abandoned cash bags. Ground teams arrested them shortly afterwards.

All three suspects were taken into custody and the full Dh10 million was recovered. Police said the operation highlighted the effectiveness of smart emergency systems, rapid coordination and aerial surveillance in responding to major crimes.
