The Government of Ajman has announced a new human resources law introducing additional leave types, enhanced employee benefits and reduced working hours across government departments, effective September 1, 2026.
Issued under the directives of Ajman Ruler Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Law No. (4) of 2026 covers family care, entrepreneurship, disability-related leave and marriage leave.
The law also introduces reduced working hours for specific categories: employees with disabilities will receive a two-hour daily reduction, pregnant employees may receive a similar reduction with medical approval, and employees supporting five or more children under 18 will get one hour less per day.
It applies to all civilian government employees, including senior management where no separate provisions exist.
The reforms also include career benefits such as promotions of up to three grades for high-performing staff and a new Good Service Award for Emirati employees, aimed at improving performance and workplace flexibility.
Officials said the law supports family stability and aligns with broader social development goals, while also strengthening oversight of human resources policies across government entities.
