Sphere Abu Dhabi, a $1.7 billion immersive entertainment venue, will be built between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, becoming the first Sphere outside the United States.
The project, announced by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, is expected to be completed by the end of 2029. It will feature a spherical LED exterior known as the “Exosphere,” which will turn the building into a large-scale digital display visible across Yas Island, including showcases of Emirati art.
Inside, the venue will use advanced immersive technology combining 360-degree visuals, spatial audio, and sensory effects such as vibrations and environmental enhancements to create a fully interactive audience experience. The venue is designed to host up to 20,000 people, depending on configuration.
Sphere Abu Dhabi will stage immersive “Sphere Experiences,” concerts, sporting events, conferences, and major brand activations, with programming expected to include both international and regional artists, alongside content highlighting Emirati culture and heritage.
The project will also strengthen Yas Island’s position as a global entertainment hub, with additional infrastructure and transport upgrades planned in coordination with key national entities.
