Dubai is introducing an integrated smart monitoring system for delivery motorcycles to improve road safety and strengthen oversight of the emirate’s rapidly expanding delivery sector.
The Roads and Transport Authority said the system will combine a digital platform, connected monitoring devices and advanced cameras fitted to delivery motorcycles. It will collect information on speeding, sudden acceleration, harsh braking, driving patterns, locations and routes.
The technology is designed to help authorities identify unsafe riding behaviour while giving delivery companies real-time information about their fleets. Businesses can use the data to improve rider training, fleet management and compliance with traffic regulations.
Installation and connection to the monitoring platform will remain optional until the end of June 2027, allowing companies time to prepare their operations. The system will become mandatory after the transitional period.
The initiative comes as demand for food and parcel deliveries continues to grow, increasing the number of motorcycles operating across Dubai’s roads. Authorities say the system will support safer riding practices and more efficient regulation of delivery operations.
