UAE residents could enjoy several extended breaks in 2027, including a possible six-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr, according to projected public holiday dates.

The year will begin with a three-day weekend, as New Year’s Day falls on Friday, January 1. Residents will be able to enjoy the weekend through Sunday, January 3, before returning to work on Monday, January 4.

Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall in March, with the holiday potentially lasting three or four days depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon and the length of Ramadan.

If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the additional public holiday could extend the break to four days, from March 9 to 12. Combined with the following weekend, this would give residents six consecutive days off.

Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha are expected to bring another four-day holiday from May 15 to 18, although the dates remain subject to the official sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon.

The Islamic New Year is expected to fall on June 6, while the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is projected for August 14. Both dates depend on the Islamic lunar calendar.

Later in the year, the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad (National Day) holidays are expected to fall on December 2 and 3, a Thursday and Friday. Combined with the weekend, this would provide a four-day break until Sunday, December 5.

Under the UAE’s public holiday framework, certain holidays may be moved to the beginning or end of a week following a Cabinet decision. However, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha are not subject to this transfer arrangement.

The projected dates for Islamic holidays remain subject to moon sightings and official announcement
