Dubai motorists will need to adjust to new speed limits on five major roads from November 1, with three limits increasing and two decreasing.
The changes apply to specific sections of Al Asayel Street, Al Mustaqbal Street, Latifa bint Hamdan Street, Al Rebat Street and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street.
The limit on Al Asayel Street will rise from 60km/h to 80km/h, while Al Mustaqbal Street and Latifa bint Hamdan Street will increase from 60km/h to 70km/h on the specified stretches.
Meanwhile, Al Rebat Street will drop from 100km/h to 90km/h, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street will fall from 80km/h to 70km/h.
The Roads and Transport Authority said the revisions followed engineering and traffic studies examining factors including road design, traffic volumes, surrounding development and actual vehicle speeds. Speed-limit signs and cameras will be updated before the changes take effect.
Drivers are being advised to pay particular attention to the two roads where limits are being reduced.
