Sri Lankan passenger Avishka Kaumadi has announced that her cat, Chuuti, who went missing at Dubai International Airport earlier this month while being prepared for transport to Sri Lanka, has been found.
Kaumadi confirmed the news in a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to SriLankan Airlines, dnata Travel and Dubai International Airport for their assistance in locating the cat.
Chuuti went missing on October 11 after Kaumadi had completed the required procedures to transport him as air cargo on SriLankan Airlines flight UL226 from Dubai to Colombo. She had earlier said she refused to board the flight and remained at the airport for around 28 hours while searching for him.
In her latest post, Kaumadi said finding Chuuti had brought “hope” back to her family, although she is still waiting for him to be safely brought back to Sri Lanka.
She also thanked members of the public who shared appeals, offered assistance and prayed for Chuuti’s safe return.
“Chuuti is not just a pet to me. He is my beloved child, my family, and a piece of my heart,” Kaumadi wrote, saying she is now waiting for the moment she can hold him again.
