Etihad Rail has added six additional weekend passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Dubai following strong early demand for the newly launched route.
More than 2,000 additional seats were made available, with three extra services operating on Saturday (3) and another three on Sunday (4).
The passenger service between the two emirates began on September 30, connecting Al Yalayis Station in Dubai with Mohammed Bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi.
The initial services attracted high demand, with tickets for services during the opening weekend selling out, according to The National.
The journey takes around 64 minutes, while introductory fares start at Dh39 for Comfort Class and Dh109 for Premium Class.
The additional services were scheduled to depart at 12:14pm from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, 1:43pm from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and 4:43pm from Abu Dhabi to Dubai on both days.
Etihad Rail’s passenger network is being expanded in phases, with additional stations planned across the UAE in the coming months.
