Dubai is introducing new restrictions on truck movement across several roads from October 1, with authorities aiming to improve traffic flow and road safety as the emirate prepares for another busy season.
The restrictions will vary depending on the road and traffic conditions. Trucks will face round-the-clock restrictions on some locations, including Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, crossings and the Airport Tunnel.
On Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street and several residential areas, including Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and Oud Al Muteena, truck movement will be restricted from 6am to 10pm.
Other urban roads will have restrictions during morning, afternoon and evening peak periods. Emirates Road is exempt.
The Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police said the changes are intended to reduce congestion, improve road capacity and shorten journey times while maintaining the movement of goods.
The changes could be particularly noticeable for commuters travelling through major Dubai corridors during peak hours from October onward.
