Wizz Air will resume flights connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi with several European cities from 25 October, increasing competition on selected routes.
Travel-industry estimates suggest economy fares could face downward pressure of between 10 and 20 per cent where Wizz Air competes directly with existing services, particularly during off-peak periods. Bharat Aidasani said the largest benefit was likely to be felt by “price-sensitive leisure travellers”, although another industry specialist cautioned that an exact reduction remained premature.
Dubai–Budapest fares have been advertised from Dh289, or Dh244 for Discount Club members, while Abu Dhabi–Budapest services start from Dh449, or Dh404 for members. Other announced destinations include Sofia, Larnaca, Katowice, Kraków, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
