UAE schools begin nationwide AI curriculum

Schools across the UAE have begun introducing artificial intelligence lessons as part of the 2026–27 academic year.

The curriculum covers data, algorithms, practical applications, ethical considerations and the potential risks associated with AI. Teaching methods will vary by age, with younger pupils learning through stories and play-based activities while older students examine more advanced uses.

Approximately 22,000 teachers and education professionals are expected to receive training covering classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum analysis and lesson planning.

AI will also be incorporated into existing subjects rather than treated solely as a separate technical course. Schools are expected to use supervised tools and age-appropriate activities.

Parents should confirm how their child’s school will deliver the curriculum before purchasing software, subscriptions or additional devices. Families should also discuss privacy, reliable information and responsible AI use at home.
