A rare pure ultra-white gyrfalcon has sold for Dh2.1 million at an Abu Dhabi auction, setting what organisers described as a record price for a falcon.

The US-bred bird attracted strong competition during the final falcon auction of the 2026 Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

Its exceptionally white plumage, pure lineage and hunting characteristics made it one of the most sought-after birds offered during this year’s programme.

Two other ultra-white gyrfalcons sold for Dh1.5 million and Dh1.1 million during the exhibition, meaning three birds exceeded the Dh1-million mark.

The ten-day event brought together approximately 2,400 companies and brands from 71 countries. Fifty-five local and international falcon-breeding farms participated, reflecting the continuing cultural and commercial importance of falconry in the UAE.
