More than 100,000 tickets have been sold for Etihad Rail passenger services since introductory journeys between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah began in June.

Demand has increased as residents return from their summer holidays, with some services reportedly reaching full capacity. The route is being used for work, family visits, medical appointments and leisure travel.

Passengers have described the approximately 90-minute journey as a comfortable alternative to travelling between the two emirates by road. Travellers should book early, particularly when travelling during weekends or other busy periods.

The network is expected to attract substantially more passengers when its expanded service formally launches on September 30. Dubai’s Al Yalayis station is also scheduled to begin operating on that date, improving rail access for residents of the emirate.
