Dubai Police has warned residents and overseas jobseekers about fraudulent online advertisements promising UAE employment or visas in exchange for money.
Fraudsters commonly impersonate government bodies or use the names of unlicensed companies when approaching victims through social media and messaging applications.
A genuine UAE employment offer should include an official offer letter issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The document must be signed by an authorised manager and carry a reference that can be verified online. Employers—not applicants—are responsible for recruitment costs under UAE law.
Jobseekers should also remember that tourist and visit visas do not permit employment. Working under either visa category can result in fines and other legal consequences.
Dubai visa applications can be checked through the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, while applications for other emirates can be verified through the federal identity and citizenship authority. Suspicious offers can be reported through the Dubai Police application, the eCrime platform or by calling 901.
