Employees across the UAE are preparing for a three-day weekend after Friday, August 28, was declared a paid public holiday for the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
The holiday applies to federal government and private-sector employees. Those whose regular weekend falls on Saturday and Sunday will be off from Friday through Sunday, with normal work resuming on Monday, August 31.
The break falls immediately before the beginning of the new academic year, making it a convenient period for short trips and staycations. Travellers should, however, expect increased demand for flights, hotels and popular attractions
