Dubai’s viral humanoid robot ‘Bu Sunaidah’ has ‘married’ another robot in a staged social media event, with the post attracting widespread attention online.
The robot, a Unitree G1 humanoid developed by SS Lootah Group and popularly known as Bu Sunaidah, was featured in a video announcing its “marriage” to another robot named Moza.
The post, shared in Arabic with an English translation, thanked family and friends for joining the celebration, although the event was staged for social media and does not represent a legal or religious marriage.
The video garnered more than 41,000 likes, 2,300 comments and 109,000 shares within three days, with reactions ranging from amusement to criticism.
Bu Sunaidah rose to prominence through videos highlighting Emirati culture and public events. Earlier this year, the robot sparked debate after appearing in videos related to Eid prayers and the Islamic call to prayer, prompting discussions about the role of robots in religious and cultural settings.
