Abu Dhabi Police has urged residents to exercise responsibility when using electric bicycles and scooters, warning that misuse of these modes of transport could result in accidents and injuries.

The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Center, highlighted the risks of riding electric bicycles and scooters in undesignated areas, on main roads among vehicles, or without following safety requirements.

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate advised users to use only designated paths and locations, avoid crowded areas, and follow preventive measures, including wearing personal protective equipment such as helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads.

Police also called on parents to closely monitor their children’s use of electric bicycles and guide them on safe riding practices, stressing the importance of developing responsible traffic behaviour from a young age.

The force said compliance with traffic regulations and safety instructions would help reduce accidents, improve road safety, and support efforts to build a safer transport environment across Abu Dhabi.
