More than 10,000 tickets have sold out ahead of the launch of Etihad Rail’s first passenger service, as the UAE’s national rail network officially began operations today.
The inaugural services are running between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi, marking a major milestone in the country’s transport sector, with strong public demand driving a full sell-out before departure.
A total of six passenger services are operating during the introductory phase. The first train departed Fujairah Station at 5:34 am and arrived at Mohammed Bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi at 7:19 am.
Passengers onboard are experiencing a modern travel service featuring guaranteed seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, seat power outlets, generous luggage allowances, and premium class options.
Etihad Rail officials said the launch represents a key step in turning the national transport vision into everyday reality, while the Integrated Transport Centre highlighted seamless connections with buses, taxis, and other public transport services to support onward travel.
Despite the initial sell-out, bookings remain open for future services via Etihad Rail’s official website and mobile application.
