Dubai Police have dismantled an organised criminal network that illegally pirated encrypted international satellite television channels and rebroadcast copyrighted content through receiver devices, online links and unauthorised websites.

Investigations found the group sold access to the pirated services through annual subscriptions, generating unlawful profits without obtaining licences from rights holders. Authorities said the operation caused significant financial losses to the company holding exclusive broadcasting rights.

Police noted that the offences violate UAE Federal Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights and pledged continued action against those using technology to infringe intellectual property rights for illegal gain.
