UAE dirham edges higher in Sri Lanka as US dollar spikes within days

The UAE dirham has recorded a slight increase in Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange market, according to Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) data.

The dirham was recorded at 89.7459 today (21), up from 89.3539 the previous day. At the start of the month on 4 May, the rate stood at 87.0990, indicating a gradual upward movement over recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the US dollar selling rate has risen sharply to 354 rupees today, marking an increase of nearly 20 rupees within just three days.

The latest figures highlight continued volatility in the foreign exchange market, with both currencies showing upward pressure against the rupee in recent trading sessions.
